Went there last week and will never go back. The food was just fair. The services was terrible. The wait staff was slow. They charged alot and gave small portions. Please stay away it's a ripoff.

I had a fantastic meal with authentic homemade ingredients (although I don't know this since I didn't prepare it myself, I can certainly describe the taste). An absolutely fantastic experience despite the relatively unassuming appearance from outside. This is definitely a gem, and I can't wait to go back.

I grew up in Elkhart and spent lots of time in South Bend, but had never eaten at Parisi's. I was in town from Indianapolis for a wedding last weekend, and the rehearsal dinner was held at Parisi's. I realized once I got there that I HAD been there before, but only for drinks, so I was looking forward to trying the food. I read mixed reviews online, so I kept my expectations low, frankly. Food: Great! We had so much food in our group, it would be impossible to go through everything, but I'll cover as much as I can. For appetizers, we had calimari (big hit at our table), margherita pizza (good, but not spectacular), fried ravioli (um, my favorite. I'll take all of it, thanks), and fresh bread (delicious). The salad seemed like a pretty standard bag mix with some fresh tomatoes thrown in, but the vinaigrette on the table was really good (homemade?). By this point, we'd all eaten enough that we could have skipped entrees, but...we didn't. Husband had the seafood dinner (scallops, tilapia, and shrimp). He was pleasantly surprised that the scallops were not overcooked, unlike most places, and the lemon butter sauce was great (but it's lemon butter sauce, so of course). I had the chicken parmigiana, which was perfectly thin and had a great seasoned batter. I would definitely eat it again. Service: Excellent! They went above and beyond. One of our table members is super picky (ok, he has the eating habits of a small child). He was going to skip all of the available entrees (8 or so that the bride had chosen), but our server had the kitchen make him something special (chicken fingers), so that he would have something to eat. Also, the room we were in had a TV, but the groom's family brought in their own DVD player to show pictures of the happy couple. They certainly didn't have to let them jack around with their TV, but they did everything they could to help. Atmosphere/Environment: Great for us, but challenging to other diners. We expected to be in the downstairs group room, but another group had cancelled, so we were in a room at the back of the restaurant. It was fine for us, but I can definitely see being annoyed as a diner in the small dining room, having people from a 25 person group winding between our tables to get to the restrooms or run outside to get something from the car (because wedding stuff always seems to require one more thing). I also felt bad about the DVD/noise from our room. Twenty five people (even well-behaved) create a lot of noise. This is a place that I would choose for a romantic dinner date, but I would go during the week to lessen the chances of groups and extraneous (and out of the staff's control) noise.

While I did not have the greatest meal here, the owners truly care about their customer's dining experience. It's clear they are actively thinking about each of their recipes and, while I personally did not enjoy my meal, it's clear from their long history that many have. It may be that I simply do not share the same taste as most people who visit Parisi's, as I'm from LA. If I could change 2 things I would add a whole-wheat pasta to the menu and change the sauce put on the Oso Bucco (neither me or my brother enjoyed it). Also it'd be nice if they invested in some booths.

Service food was okay, but service was really lacking. The waiters were confused and slow. We had a group which was split into two tables and one table was served and finished eating before the other even got their food. Food was not worth the price. Only redeeming quality it that they are conveniently located near Notre Dame. We do not plan to come back. They also messed up the order and we spent twenty minutes trying to get the bill fixed. The water was always empty, and we found a bottom to the supposedly endless bread!

We had a reservation for Friday. We were seated quickly. Our server was quick and brought us great dirty martini's. We ordered and got our delicious salads right away. The main course was a different. We waited almost and hour for our entrees. Once we got the food it was good. The wait kinda killed the experience. I would go back and give them a second chance because the food was good. Just not worth waiting that long for.

This place is a South Bend staple. Not far from University of Notre Dame's campus is tucked this little family owned Italian restaurant. It's off the grid of the Grape Road Chain Restaurant Hell, which automatically earns it points in my book. We always have positive experiences here. The food is good. Is it the most authentic Italian food I've ever had? Well, no. But the price is right, the portions are decently sized, and it tastes good (and better than Olive Garden). It's a place we bring out of towners when they want a South Bend experience. My biggest gripe is -- don't shoot me -- the pianist. I know that it's part of the restaurant's charm. And most of the time I don't mind. What I *do* mind is the playing of the Notre Dame fight song every hour, which appears to be nothing more than a gratuitous solicitation of tips and gets people in an otherwise peaceful restaurant riled up like a pep rally. Yes, yes -- I know -- this is Fighting Irish country. But there are (*gasp*) other schools in Indiana with equally large and enthusiastic fan bases.

Terrible service. The restaurant was only 10% full on a fall Friday night, which should of been a red flag. The funny thing was that when we tried to call in a reservation, we had to settle for an hour later than we had originally requested. . . weird. Service was so bad, we could see all the staff just standing around talking, which annoys me to no end. The food was awful. We will definitely not be back.

Granted we went here on notre dames graduation weekend weekend, but the basic food was terrible. My son loves oso buco and he picked the restaurant because that was on the menu. It was terrible. I think they used a water based canned gravy or at minimum one made from a packet. It seemed like bullion, cornstarch and water In stead of a tomato based homemade sauce. Which is what you expect on that dish. Look up James beards recipe. On top of that they give you just the meat on the plate and the a large bowl of pasta with more canned sauce. Even worse I made the mistake of ordering chicken Marsala and I got sick from the chicken as did my son. It also had the same water based gravy, but it was better because it had Marsala wine added. Overall it was a terrible experience. They were serving a lot of people, but there basic recipe really need work. Update: Parisi's contacted us about our meal and and were very attentive to our concerns. While I still did not enjoy the meal, I may be back someday to give it another try.

The food and history here are very good. A Parisi's you can feel comfortable in a suit or in jeans. The food is very good. Try for a starter the Pizza Margheritta which is a thin traditional grilled oblong pizza with fresh mozzrella, hand crushed tomato, fresh basil and olive oil.... It is amazing and truly a must try! Or try their true itallian bruschetta is excellent (and it is pronounced Broos-ketta not broo-sheh-ta like the american and chain places call it. the ch is pronunced like a K) I can tell you the fish entrees are some of the best around period. The osso bucco (veal shank) is my favorite, the best I have had any where! A Tip if you get the osso bucco do not ignore the marrow inside the bone... It is butter of the gods and should not be wasted. Spread it on some bread it is so beefy, rich and wounderful! I like my osso bucco on angel hair pastaeven though the serve with rice they are always happy to prepare it this way. The chicken limon and veal saltimboca is always great. FYI Parisi's used very good veal and hand pounds the veal and chicken in all the dishes, No frozen veal chopped veal patties here like Pasquale Rulis (eww)! The pasta with a mix of all the seafood in the house is a fav so is the red clam sauce. Ask for Pasta Calabrese (I don't think it is on the menu but they will make it) All the dessert are home made and excellent. I would highly recommend not just ordering spaghetti and meatballs or pizza (uless it is the grilled pizza margheritta!). Basically, what I am saying is this is common fare you will find everywhere and chance are you will be dissapointed in it. Pasta comes with every meat entree as a side, just ask for a meat ball if you want or ask for you side to be with alferedo or garlic and oil if you want but try the more traditional, delicious and elegant things that shines here. And you will not leave hungry. Roberto Parisi is usually there don't be afraid to ask him to make something special. If it is not too busy he is happy to jump back there and prepare something great for you. I truly want to give them 5 stars in all the food I mentioned because these are "as good as it gets!" The prices are high but fair when you consider the cost and taste of good ingriedents.

Well we made reservations. Took us an hour to get a seat anyway. I waited in the bar had some decent drinks (2 stars) We were seated and given a more expensive menu that what is advertised on the website and only one page worth of food. The dining room was LOUD. Couldn't hear a soul, even on the other side of the table. I ordered a Chicken Marsalla and from working in a jail for 7 years the sauce was canned and tasted like jailhouse Salsbury sauce. Overall poor experience. I'll never go back. Drinks were made well but my advice.... go to Papa Vinos

Great environment for a romantic dinner, or family get together We had great wine, bruschetta anti pasta, a seafood dish, and a traditional pasta & gravy dish. Everything was excellent. Red velvet cake for dessert that was best I've had

Food was good, server (Lisa M.) was great. HOWEVER, we were hoping to have a romantic dinner and ended up having most of our meals packed and leaving before we were finished. We have been in been in frat houses and college bars that were more quiet than this place was. Our server tried her best, even moving us to another table, but it is difficult to manage 3 large groups of obnoxious people that should have been seated in the bar. It was so bad at first that we were almost shouting to hear each other across the table. While we know that all of this was beyond their control, we have little incentive or reason to return. We spent almost $100 for a meal that we couldn't really eat, let alone enjoy. I can't recommend Parisi's for anything intimate, peaceful, restful, or quiet. The food is tasty, the service good, but bring your asiprin.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
